Collectif Débagora (UCLouvain, ULB, musée BELvue, Jeune et Citoyen, Infor Jeunes Bruxelles et le Comité des élèves francophones)
For an entire school year, more than 400 young people from the last two years of secondary education in Brussels and some thirty teachers will get involved in debates and politics.
In its first year (2022−2023), no fewer than twelve French-speaking secondary schools from across all types of education, i.e. a total of 22 classes, are taking part in a project entitled Getting young people get involved in politics with a focus on addressing inequalities.
From formulating an issue to speaking in the public arena, the pupils will experience the entire political process as the year progresses. The project will conclude with a session at which young people will have the opportunity to make their opinions heard in public.
The project has three stages:
The Debagora collective
Two research centres at UCLouvain and ULB have joined forces with four civic education organisations (BELvue Museum, Jeune et Citoyen, Infor Jeunes Bruxelles and the Committee of French-speaking pupils), to train – with the support of the Bernheim Foundation – the Debagora collective and launch this educational project focusing on politics and debate.
